Adam decided to pivot and did a master's degree in industrial design. He hopped into a design studio for a bit but hated the work before starting his own company doing web design.

Nichole started ICWSAT in 2021 and works with contractors and businesses to maximize their usage, using role-based training and providing ongoing support to reduce risk.

Nichole landed her dream job straight out of college, working on engineering and construction for a regional theatre in Denver. But after feeling the impact of the financial crisis at the time, she had to look for another job.

She began working in a carpentry or steelwork role in Arizona. After complaining about how inefficient the company’s processes were, she began to help them fix their own processes as a general contractor for 7 years.

In 2021, Nichole decided to take a leap of faith and start her own business, putting over a decade’s worth of experience into helping business owners and contractors.

Is field experience necessary for those who want to be a part of the technology side of construction?

In today's episode, Nathan and I have a special guest with us, Sal D'Ambrosia. He's the Director of Construction Technology at Wm. Blanchard Co., a construction management firm based in New Jersey.

Sal has over twenty years of experience as a pipe fitter and installer. But something happened that changed his perspective. One day, he stumbled upon BIM (Building Information Modeling) while taking over someone else's task.

He got interested in 3D drawing, and from that moment on, he knew he wanted to dive deeper into the technology side of construction if he wanted to make a bigger impact in the industry.

Today, Sal shares his experiences and insights on transitioning from being the field guy to the mechanical guy and eventually as a general contractor.

He also talks about the costs of resisting new technologies, how to overcome resistance, the challenges faced by those on the job site and those behind the desks, and much more!
